What easy sudoku is like

Easy sudoku is the entry-level rating, designed so a complete beginner can finish a puzzle. The starting grid is dense enough that the first few cells fall out almost instantly, which builds momentum. Every clue you place opens up two or three more, so a clean solve feels like dominoes. You almost never need a technique beyond cross-hatching and naked singles.

Techniques you’ll use

  • →Cross-hatching: scan rows and columns to find where a digit must go in a box
  • →Naked singles: a cell that has only one valid digit given its row, column, and box
  • →Hidden singles: a digit that has only one possible cell in its row, column, or box

When to play it

Best for a quick coffee-break solve, teaching the rules to someone new, or building a streak when life is busy.

Difficulty context: About a third as hard as Medium and a tenth as hard as Expert.
